Maria moves between images, words, and fragments — collecting what others might walk past and giving it a second life. Her creative practice begins with looking closely: at the streets she moves through, the things people leave behind, and the small details of everyday life that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Her Sagittarius Sun keeps her curious — drawn to stories, symbols, unexpected encounters, and the meanings that appear when seemingly unrelated things meet. Her Taurus Moon brings her back to the physical: the texture of paper, the act of cutting and arranging by hand, and the pleasure of working slowly with real materials. With Capricorn Rising, there is patience and intention behind the process — an ability to stay with an idea without needing to know immediately where it will lead.

Originally from Vienna and now based in Berlin, Maria is an analogue collage artist and writer. She collects found images, materials, words, and fragments from open bookshelves, flea markets, old magazines, conversations, waiting rooms, and whatever else happens to catch her attention. Walking, observing, and listening are as much a part of her practice as making itself.

She is particularly drawn to visual ambiguity and layered meaning. Rather than beginning with a fixed idea of what something should become, Maria allows the materials to lead — following associations, accidents, and intuition until something new begins to take shape.

In her workshops, collage becomes a practice of noticing. A way to slow down, step outside the pressure to produce something “good,” and follow what catches your eye. There is no need to arrive with a concept or consider yourself an artist — curiosity is enough.
